Dawn over our local mountains symbolizes the early and important role of our local Revolutionary Patriots. Many of them signed the Fincastle Resolutions. They were militiamen who joined the Overmountain Men at the Battle of Kings Mountain, Guildford Courthouse and other battles in North Carolina. Some were members of the Continental Army Line who served with Washington at Yorktown.

We are 80 friendly and welcoming women united in our dedication to the NSDAR missions of historic preservation, education, and patriotism. We range in age from twenty-something to over ninety. Our Alleghany Chapter is part of Virginia Daughters of the American Revolution and the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR). We are accepting of all women who can prove their lineage from Patriot supporters and soldiers of the American Revolution.
